Inside the border sits a checkered field of light and dark wood with the coordinates marked along the edge. At 11.8″ / 30 cm it closes into a bag with the pieces inside and goes wherever the evening takes you.

Open the brass clasps and it becomes a handmade backgammon set: two-tone points, a flower ornament in the centre of each half, checkers in light and dark wood. A travel chess set for the café table and the train seat, a chess and backgammon set for the summer house — the full game at a size that fits a backpack, from the Hrachya Ohanyan workshop.

Specifications

Size: 30 × 30 cm / 11.8″ × 11.8″

Material: beech wood and plywood, hand-finished and varnished

Motif: scroll ornament worked into the frame, scalloped contour outline, flower ornaments inside

Hardware: brass hinges and clasps

Handmade in Armenia by Hrachya Ohanyan

What's Included

Chess and backgammon board with brass hinges and clasps

32 wooden chess pieces made from beech and walnut wood, with velvet bases

32 checkers made from beech and walnut wood

Dice set

Branded carrying bag

Why You'll Love It

Made for travel: a small, portable chess set — at 30 cm it fits a backpack, a suitcase or a drawer, and it opens in seconds wherever you sit down.

Two games in one board: chess on the outside, backgammon inside — the pieces and checkers ride along in the closed board.

A frame with a shape: the scalloped outline and the two-tone ornament make it look like a much bigger board than it is.

Good to Know Before You Buy

Is 30 cm big enough to play properly? Yes — it is the classic travel size, comfortable for two players with the included pieces.
