WOODWORKING AS ART

Hrachya Ohanyan is a specialised woodworking manufacturer with a rich history spanning over four decades. The workshop was originally founded by the National Master Hrachya Ohanyan, who blended age-old Armenian woodworking with a modern approach. At the core of every creation, the National Master adheres to the belief that "there is a soul in the tree, which only skillful hands can give shape and colour to."

A varied collection of wooden creations are produced at the workshop: pieces for backgammon and chess, watches, souvenirs, and many other unique objects. Many of the items, including works with a Masis contour, have become signature pieces of Hrachya Ohanyan. Some of these have been patented for more than 25 years. Each model goes through at least 14 stages of creation, with 14 different masters contributing their expertise. until it is ready to be presented in its flawless form to true connoisseurs of fine wood craftsmanship.

A tree that has been properly treated does not die, it continues to live in its new form and retains the smell and flexibility of natural wood. Our craftsmen possess the purest secrets of the woodworking art of our ancestors and are able to give a wand any shape. Woodworking is one of the oldest forms of engraving. Our masters are the most perfect way to know the secrets of logging-this is the next stage of wood processing, during which a pattern or a picture is created on the already treated piece of the tree, and in the end just the tree turns into a unique example of chess or backgammon.
