Braided Cross Armenian Backgammon Set with Classic Outline by Hrachya Ohanyan
A cross of braided bands, knotted into scrolls and opening into a flower at its heart, carved deep inside an oval medallion with a rope border. This is the 60 cm / 23.6″ wooden backgammon set made by Hrachya Ohanyan. Handmade in beech, with 32 checkers, a dice set and a black carrying bag.
This is the board for the player who loves Armenian stone ornament and wants it in wood they can hold. Every strand of the braid passes over and under the next, the way it does on old khachkars, and around the medallion the lid is cut into a fine lattice with two lobed cartouches and a rope round every edge.
Open it and the field is warm brown with pale carved points and a wheel of twelve petals on each half; turn it over and the back carries an inlaid chequerboard between two carved spirals. For the birthday, the new home and the evening game that runs past midnight.

Is the carving real? Yes. The braided cross, the lattice, the rope borders and the wheels inside are all carved into the beech by hand — nothing is printed. The brown is a stain under the varnish.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free to the US, Canada and Europe, always tracked; other countries pay a flat $100 (Brazil, Chile and New Zealand $200). Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.
How do I look after it? Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth and store it closed in its carrying case.

National Master Hrachya Ohanyan began his fine woodcraft in 1985 and founded his workshop in Yerevan in 2010. What products do you make?

Are your products handmade?
Yes. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you in Armenia, most of them in master carver Hrachya Ohanyan's workshop in Yerevan. That is why each one takes 1–2 weeks to make.
Do you ship worldwide from Armenia?
Yes. Shipping is free to the US, Canada and all of Europe; other countries pay a flat $100 for tracked delivery, and Brazil, Chile and New Zealand pay $200, always tracked and insured. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you, so it takes 1–2 weeks to make. Delivery then takes about 7–9 business days to the US, Canada, Europe and the UK; other regions may take a little longer. Orders over $600 travel by express courier with signature. Tables go by insured furniture freight and arrive about 2–4 weeks after they are finished.
Will I pay customs duties?
US and EU orders are delivered duties paid, so there is nothing more to pay on arrival. For other countries, import fees depend on local rules; write to us and we will help you estimate them.
What is your return policy?
You can return any order within 30 days of delivery, for any reason, worldwide. Faulty or damaged items return free; for change-of-mind returns the item must be unused in its original packaging and you cover return shipping. EU and UK customers also keep their full statutory rights, including a 14-day withdrawal right.

What materials do you use?
Mostly solid beech and walnut, carved by hand. Some boards add epoxy resin, amber stones or bronze details; each product page lists its own materials.
