Hand Carved Luxury Wooden Chess Set with Eternity Symbol - by Hrachya Ohanyan
Most themed chess sets you will find online are cast from resin. This one is carved from wood, by hand. The closed cover is dominated by a large eternity wheel, its rays spiraling out of the surface, framed by dense lattice carving and arched panels — a decorative chess set that reads as sculpture when the game is over. National Master Hrachya Ohanyan carves each 60 cm / 23.6" board from solid wood, so no two covers are ever quite the same.
Open it and you have a full-size wooden chess set for real play: a warm two-tone field framed in black felt, with hand-turned pieces in dark and natural wood waiting inside. Closed, it is the kind of unique chess set that ends up on a sideboard, not in a cupboard.
If you are looking for a chess gift for him that says something — a wedding, a milestone birthday, an anniversary — a hand carved heirloom chess set is the one that gets passed on rather than replaced.

A Symbol Older Than the Game
Ornamental eternity signs have decorated khachkars, manuscripts and temples for centuries, standing for the endless cycle of life. Carved into this cover, the symbol turns a classic game into a piece of living heritage.
Good to Know Before You Buy
- Is a 60 cm chess set too big? It is the size most players call "full-size": comfortable for two adults, and large enough that the carving is meant to be seen across a room. If you want the same design for a smaller table, the eternity symbol is also carved at 40 cm.
- Is a wooden chess set worth it over resin or plastic? A carved solid-wood set ages with you — the grain deepens, the pieces take on a patina, and the board can be handed down. Cast sets do not.
- Is the carving really done by hand? Yes. Every board passes through 14 stages in the Hrachya Ohanyan workshop, and the relief on the cover is cut with hand tools, not pressed or printed.
About the Master - Hrachya Ohanyan
In 1985, National Master Ohanyan began his fine wood craft, introducing a new approach to the age-old traditions of woodworking. After many years of dedication, the Hrachya Ohanyan workshop was established in 2010. The workshop creates classic and original models from high-quality raw materials - each set a work of art admired both locally and internationally.

14 Levels, Up to 200 Days
Every chess model passes through 14 distinct phases of production: 14 separate craftsmen make their mark on a piece of wood until it reaches its perfected form in the showrooms of Hrachya Ohanyan - a distinguished visual and qualitative experience for those who appreciate true wood artistry.
A Luxury Gift That Lasts Generations
A handmade chess set of this size is a luxury gift that never expires - for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, or under the Christmas tree. Solid wood, master craftsmanship and the carved eternity symbol: it will be played, displayed and passed on.

Yes. Shipping is free to the US, Canada and all of Europe; other countries pay a flat $100 for tracked delivery, and Brazil, Chile and New Zealand pay $200, always tracked and insured.
