Classic Wooden Chess Pieces, Set of 32 by Hrachya Ohanyan

A full set of 32 wooden chess pieces made by Hrachya Ohanyan — 16 in pale beech and 16 in dark walnut, turned in the classic shape, with a disc of velvet under every base. Choose the size that matches your board: five sizes, for 9.4″ / 24 cm up to 23.6″ / 60 cm boards.

These are the replacement chess pieces for a board that came without them, the upgrade for a set whose plastic pieces never felt right, and the gift for the player who already owns a good board. Knights are carved horse heads, bishops carry a pointed finial, kings a spire — every piece reads at a glance from across the table.

The bodies are solid wood, varnished to a soft gloss — the light side natural, the dark side walnut. Velvet on the underside means they slide quietly and never scratch a carved or epoxy board.

Is the board included? No — this is the set of 32 pieces only. Every Hrachya Ohanyan chess set already ships with its pieces; this listing is for a board that needs them.

What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free to the US, Canada and Europe, always tracked; other countries pay a flat $100 (Brazil, Chile and New Zealand $200). Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.

How do I look after them? Wipe with a dry, soft cloth; keep them out of damp and away from radiators, and store them in the board's compartment or a soft pouch.

About the Artist - Hrachya Ohanyan

What products do you make?

Handmade chess sets, backgammon boards and chess tables, carved by hand in Armenia.
Are your products handmade?

Yes. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you in Armenia, most of them in master carver Hrachya Ohanyan's workshop in Yerevan. That is why each one takes 1–2 weeks to make.
Do you ship worldwide from Armenia?

Yes. Shipping is free to the US, Canada and all of Europe; other countries pay a flat $100 for tracked delivery, and Brazil, Chile and New Zealand pay $200, always tracked and insured. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you, so it takes 1–2 weeks to make. Delivery then takes about 7–9 business days to the US, Canada, Europe and the UK; other regions may take a little longer. Orders over $600 travel by express courier with signature. Tables go by insured furniture freight and arrive about 2–4 weeks after they are finished.
Will I pay customs duties?

US and EU orders are delivered duties paid, so there is nothing more to pay on arrival. For other countries, import fees depend on local rules; write to us and we will help you estimate them.
What is your return policy?

You can return any order within 30 days of delivery, for any reason, worldwide. Faulty or damaged items return free; for change-of-mind returns the item must be unused in its original packaging and you cover return shipping. EU and UK customers also keep their full statutory rights, including a 14-day withdrawal right.

What materials do you use?

Mostly solid beech and walnut, carved by hand. Some boards add epoxy resin, amber stones or bronze details; each product page lists its own materials.
