David of Sassoun Armenian Backgammon Set with Classic Outline by Hrachya Ohanyan
David of Sassoun on his rearing horse, sword raised, drawn in fine line on a pale oval panel inside a lattice cartouche with rope borders. This is the 60 cm / 23.6″ wooden backgammon set made by Hrachya Ohanyan. Handmade in chestnut-stained beech, with 32 checkers, dice and a black carrying bag.
This is the board for the family that knows the epic by heart, the Yerevan flat with the statue ten minutes away, and the player who wants the hero without the price of deep relief. Rider and horse are drawn in clean lines on the pale panel — mane, raised sword, rocks under the hooves — and the lid around them is a faceted lattice of diamonds with lobed corners and rope borders.
Inside, a dark field with pale points tipped in fleur-de-lys, an eight-petal wheel on each half and the maker's stamped hinge on the bar. Turned over, the same lattice frames a chequerboard of pale and dark squares with an eternity whirl at each end. For the first real board, the diaspora gift and the Sunday table.

Good to Know Before You Buy
Is the carving real? Yes. The lattice, rope borders and lobed cartouche are carved into the beech, and the eternity whirls and wheel ornaments are cut the same way. David and his horse are drawn in fine line work into the pale panel, not printed. The chestnut colour is a stain under the varnish.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free to the US, Canada and Europe, always tracked; other countries pay a flat $100 (Brazil, Chile and New Zealand $200). Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.
How do I look after it? Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth and store it closed in its carrying case.
About the Artist - Hrachya Ohanyan
National Master Hrachya Ohanyan began his fine woodcraft in 1985 and founded his workshop in Yerevan in 2010. What products do you make?
Handmade chess sets, backgammon boards and chess tables, carved by hand in Armenia.
Are your products handmade?
Yes. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you in Armenia, most of them in master carver Hrachya Ohanyan's workshop in Yerevan. That is why each one takes 1–2 weeks to make.
Do you ship worldwide from Armenia?
Yes. Shipping is free to the US, Canada and all of Europe; other countries pay a flat $100 for tracked delivery, and Brazil, Chile and New Zealand pay $200, always tracked and insured. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you, so it takes 1–2 weeks to make. Delivery then takes about 7–9 business days to the US, Canada, Europe and the UK; other regions may take a little longer. Orders over $600 travel by express courier with signature. Tables go by insured furniture freight and arrive about 2–4 weeks after they are finished.
Will I pay customs duties?
US and EU orders are delivered duties paid, so there is nothing more to pay on arrival. For other countries, import fees depend on local rules; write to us and we will help you estimate them.
What is your return policy?
You can return any order within 30 days of delivery, for any reason, worldwide. Faulty or damaged items return free; for change-of-mind returns the item must be unused in its original packaging and you cover return shipping. EU and UK customers also keep their full statutory rights, including a 14-day withdrawal right.

What materials do you use?
Mostly solid beech and walnut, carved by hand. Some boards add epoxy resin, amber stones or bronze details; each product page lists its own materials.
