Garni Temple and Geghard Monastery Backgammon Set, Two-Sided by Hrachya Ohanyan
Garni Temple on one face, Geghard Monastery on the other: two of Armenia's best-loved landmarks carved into a single board. This 60 cm / 23.6″ Armenian backgammon set is made by Hrachya Ohanyan in beech and comes with 32 checkers, a dice set and a branded carrying case.
This is the board for anyone who has climbed the steps at Garni or stepped into the cool stone halls at Geghard. The temple stands on its stepped base with every column clear and straight; turn the board over and the church rises behind a paved courtyard that runs right up to your hand. Both scenes sit in a round frame with a rope border, between two lobed panels on a fine dotted ground.
Open it and the field is warm honey brown, with pale carved points and a spoked wheel in a scrolled ring on each half. A board for the family table, for the friend who moved away from Yerevan, and for every evening game that ends with just one more.

Good to Know Before You Buy
Is the carving real? Yes. Both landmarks, the rope borders, the dotted ground and the wheels inside are carved into the beech by hand. Nothing is printed; the dark brown is a stain under the varnish.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free to the US, Canada and Europe, always tracked; other countries pay a flat $100 (Brazil, Chile and New Zealand $200). Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.
How do I look after it? Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth and store it closed in its carrying case.
