Wall Clock with Armenian Alphabet
Thirty-nine letters, sixteen centuries, one clock. This handmade wooden wall clock carries the Armenian alphabet carved by hand around its dial — Mesrop Mashtots' letters standing in for the hours, so every glance at the time is a glance at the alphabet that has held a people together since 405 AD.
It is a square 13.8" / 35 cm piece, carved in relief and varnished, made to anchor a living room wall, a study, or a classroom of Armenian school kids learning their ayb-ben-gim. A carved Armenian wall clock like this is the piece guests ask about first — and the story never gets old in the telling.

The Alphabet on the Wall
Armenians have built statues to their alphabet, planted it in monuments on hillsides, and taught it to every generation in every corner of the world. Carved in wood around a clock face, the letters do what they have always done — keep time, keep memory, keep identity.
About the Master — Hrachya Ohanyan
In 1985, National Master Ohanyan began his fine wood craft, introducing a new approach to the age-old traditions of woodworking. After many years of dedication, the Hrachya Ohanyan workshop was established in 2010. The workshop creates Armenian, classic and original models from high-quality raw materials — each piece a work of art admired both locally and internationally.
For a diaspora home, a teacher, or anyone whose heart reads in Armenian — this is the gift that speaks their language, on the hour, every hour.

Frequently asked questions
What products do you make?
Handmade chess sets, backgammon boards and chess tables, carved by hand in Armenia.
Are your products handmade?
Yes. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you in Armenia, most of them in master carver Hrachya Ohanyan's workshop in Yerevan. That is why each one takes 1–2 weeks to make.
Do you ship worldwide from Armenia?
Yes. Shipping is free to the US, Canada and all of Europe; other countries pay a flat $100 for tracked delivery, and Brazil, Chile and New Zealand pay $200, always tracked and insured. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you, so it takes 1–2 weeks to make. Delivery then takes about 7–9 business days to the US, Canada, Europe and the UK; other regions may take a little longer. Orders over $600 travel by express courier with signature. Tables go by insured furniture freight and arrive about 2–4 weeks after they are finished.
Will I pay customs duties?
US and EU orders are delivered duties paid, so there is nothing more to pay on arrival. For other countries, import fees depend on local rules; write to us and we will help you estimate them.
What is your return policy?
You can return any order within 30 days of delivery, for any reason, worldwide. Faulty or damaged items return free; for change-of-mind returns the item must be unused in its original packaging and you cover return shipping. EU and UK customers also keep their full statutory rights, including a 14-day withdrawal right.
Can I talk to someone before I buy?
Yes. Call or message us on WhatsApp at +374 41 777 882 for a personal consultation about any piece. We are happy to send more photos, help with size and engraving, and answer any question.
Do you accept custom orders?
Yes. Tell us what you have in mind on WhatsApp (+374 41 777 882) or at contact@lionlaurel.com, and we will talk through the size, wood and engraving with you.
What materials do you use?
Mostly solid beech and walnut, carved by hand. Some boards add epoxy resin, amber stones or bronze details; each product page lists its own materials.
Is payment secure?
Yes. You pay through Shopify's secure checkout with all major cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
