The walls
Built like a fortress
Castellated turrets, brick-textured walls and arched niches, all cut from solid beech and varnished by hand. The playing field is set in beech and walnut squares, framed on every side by battlements.
No molds, no shortcuts: every wall is carved, fitted and finished in an Armenian workshop.
The garrison
An army cast in bronze
Thirty-two pieces cast in bronze: knights, horsemen and castle rooks, each with armor detail fine enough to read by candlelight. Heavy in the hand, certain on the board.
Between games they stand watch in the arched niches, and the whole set reads as sculpture.
The armory
Secrets in the walls
Two drawers slide out of the base, lined in soft cloth and ready for captured pieces between battles. The fortress keeps its own armory.
It ships with a protective carrying bag, so the castle travels as well as it holds ground.

Changed your mind? Any order can be returned within 30 days of delivery, worldwide: unused and in its original packaging, with return shipping paid by the buyer. EU and UK customers also have a 14-day statutory withdrawal right and a 2-year guarantee on faults. Engraved pieces, custom commissions and gift cards can't be returned unless they arrive faulty.

This one is not a board with decoration on it. It is a fortress. Solid beech carved into castellated turrets at the corners, walls textured like brickwork, arched niches cut into the sides — and the playing field laid across the top in beech and walnut. Twenty-four kilos of it. You do not put this on a side table; you decide which room it belongs in.
The army fits the architecture: 32 bronze pieces, knights and horsemen and castle-tower rooks, each cast with armour detail you only find by picking one up. And because it is a genuine chess set with drawers, two soft-lined drawers slide out of the base to take the captured pieces as the game goes on — which is a small thing that changes how a long game feels. Nothing accumulates around the edge of the board.
