Luxury Walnut Chess & Backgammon Set - Woven Border 15.7" | 40 cm

Luxury Walnut Chess & Backgammon Set - Woven Border, by Hrachya Ohanyan

The border of this walnut board is a basket, cut clean through the wood — strand crossing strand, open at every gap, so the frame lets light through instead of holding it. Carved scrolls close the corners, brass studs ring the playing field, and the walnut underneath shows its own long grain. This is deep relief work, not surface engraving.

Two games share one board. Chess is played on the field outside; open the engraved brass clasps and a walnut backgammon field waits inside, its points cut in fine lattice with a carved wheel ornament at the heart of each half. Made by National Master Hrachya Ohanyan in a 15.7" | 40 cm format. The checkers arrive in their own gift box, and the set travels in a canvas case with a handle.

About the Master - Hrachya Ohanyan

In 1985, National Master Ohanyan began his fine wood craft, introducing a new approach to the age-old traditions of woodworking. After many years of dedication, the Hrachya Ohanyan workshop was established in 2010. The workshop creates Armenian, classic and original models from high-quality raw materials - each set a work of art admired both locally and internationally. 14 Levels, Up to 200 Days

Every chess model passes through 14 distinct phases of production: 14 separate craftsmen make their mark on a piece of wood until it reaches its perfected form in the showrooms of Hrachya Ohanyan - a distinguished visual and qualitative experience for those who appreciate true wood artistry.
