A full 23.6″ / 60 cm hand-carved wooden chess set with a frame cut like a net: row after row of small diamonds carved into the beech, running the whole way round the board and catching the light from every side. The ranks and files are carved into the border, the squares are laid in light and dark wood, and the hand-carved pieces stand tall enough to be read across the room. This is the large board — the one that stays on the table.

Open the bronze clasps and the same board becomes a handmade backgammon set: carved points, a carved wheel ornament in the centre of each half, and checkers in two woods.
