A Piece of Armenian History
The Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia (1198-1375) was a Mediterranean maritime power whose merchant ships connected Armenia with Europe and the East. This backgammon board - known in Armenia as nardi - pays tribute to that seafaring golden age: the rigging, billowing sails and rhythmic ocean texture are all sculpted with the depth and clarity that defines Ohanyan's work. A heavy-duty collector's piece, it is a tribute to the spirit of exploration and the high-water mark of Armenian woodcraft.
A Gift That Lasts Generations
Whether for a backgammon enthusiast, a lover of Armenian heritage, or a housewarming, anniversary or retirement gift, this hand-carved set is built to be played, displayed and passed down.
About the Artist
In 1985, National Master Ohanyan began his fine wood craft, introducing a new approach to the age-old traditions of woodworking. After many years of dedication, Hrachya Ohanyan was established in 2010. The workshop creates a range of Armenian, classic and original models with high-quality raw materials. Thanks to the skill and expertise of the craftsmanship, each set produced is a work of art that garners admiration both locally and internationally.

14 Levels, Up to 200 Days
Every model passes through 14 distinct phases of production: 14 separate craftsmen make their mark on a piece of wood until it reaches its perfected form in the showrooms of Hrachya Ohanyan, offering a distinguished visual and qualitative experience to those proficient in wood artistry.
