Luxury Three Horses Backgammon Set with Basket Weave

Luxury Three Horses Backgammon Set with Basket Weave by Hrachya Ohanyan

Three horses at full gallop — manes flying, forelegs reaching — carved in deep relief inside a beaded ring on a lid of basket weave. This is the 60 cm / 23.6″ luxury wooden backgammon set made by Hrachya Ohanyan, classic outline. Handmade in beech, with 32 wooden checkers, dice cut from billiard balls and a branded carrying case.

This is the board for the rider, the racegoer and the family with horses in the yard. The three run abreast across the disc: heads up, nostrils flared, manes and forelocks streaming back, the near forelegs lifted mid-stride over a stippled ground, every muscle of the chests and necks modelled in full depth. Round the ring, the whole lid is cut into basket weave — each strand raised and the weave running under the corner leaves — with a beaded border and a rope edge, in a deep walnut-brown stain.

Inside it calms down: a walnut-brown field, pale points with fleur-de-lys tips, a wheel ornament in a scrolled ring on each half, an ornate bronze hinge on the bar, and eternity whirls in round discs on the back cover. For the stable office, the racing club, and the player who likes texture under the hand.

Why You'll Love It

• Three, not one: the horses are layered, the nearest cut deepest, so the group reads as one gallop rather than three profiles in a row.
• Basket weave all over: the strands cover both covers and run under the carved corner leaves, so closed it is textured from every angle.
• Make it theirs: add a name or a date at checkout to mark a birthday, a retirement or years of games together.

Good to Know Before You Buy

Is the carving real? Yes. The three horses are carved in deep relief into the beech, the ground behind them is stippled, and the basket weave, corner leaves and beaded border are cut into the same lid. Stain and varnish come last; nothing is printed, cast or applied.

What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free to the US, Canada and Europe, always tracked; other countries pay a flat $100 (Brazil, Chile and New Zealand $200). Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.

How do I look after it? Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth and store it closed in its carrying case.
