Luxury Wooden Backgammon Set Hand Carved - Stag and Doe
A luxury wooden backgammon set with a forest scene hand-carved in deep relief on the cover — a stag standing guard, a doe resting at his feet, trees and long grass around them, all cut from the wood itself by master Hrachya Ohanyan. The scene sits inside a round carved frame on a ground of dense lattice carving with braided borders, and the reverse face carries two carved Armenian eternity symbols. At 23.6″ / 60 cm it is a full-size handmade backgammon board for the home table, made for long nardi evenings and built to be handed down.

Why You'll Love It
- Carved by hand, not pressed: the antlers, the grass and the tree leaves stand off the cover in real relief, so no two boards are identical and the scene changes with the light.
- Large 60 cm board: the size families in Armenia play on, with room for the checkers to move and for the carving to be seen across the room.
- Finished on both faces: the deer on the front, eternity symbols on the back — it looks complete from any angle on a shelf or sideboard.
Good to Know Before You Buy
Is 60 cm the right size? It is the largest standard size we make and the one most people choose for a home table. If you want something smaller for travel or a small flat, look at our 50 cm and 40 cm boards.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free to the US, Canada and Europe, always tracked; other countries pay a flat $100 (Brazil, Chile and New Zealand $200). Every set is covered by our 30-day returns.
How do I look after it? Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and store it closed in the bag.
The Stag and the Doe
The deer is the quiet animal of the mountain forests — grace, watchfulness and the calm of a place far from the city. Here the stag stands while the doe rests, a small scene of care carved the old way, by hand, from the wood itself.
About the Artist - Hrachya Ohanyan
In 1985, National Master Hrachya Ohanyan began his fine wood craft, introducing a new approach to the age-old traditions of woodworking. After many years of dedication, the Hrachya Ohanyan workshop was established in 2010. Every board passes through 14 stages of production, with 14 separate craftsmen leaving their mark before it reaches its finished form — a piece of wood artistry admired both in Armenia and around the world. A Gift That Outlasts the Occasion
A hand-carved backgammon set is a gift for a wedding, a milestone birthday, a new home or a father who already has everything — played for decades and passed on with the story of who gave it.

Frequently asked questions
What products do you make?
Handmade chess sets, backgammon boards and chess tables, carved by hand in Armenia.
Are your products handmade?
Yes. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you in Armenia, most of them in master carver Hrachya Ohanyan's workshop in Yerevan. That is why each one takes 1–2 weeks to make.
Do you ship worldwide from Armenia?
Yes. Shipping is free to the US, Canada and all of Europe; other countries pay a flat $100 for tracked delivery, and Brazil, Chile and New Zealand pay $200, always tracked and insured. Every piece is handmade and handcrafted for you, so it takes 1–2 weeks to make. Delivery then takes about 7–9 business days to the US, Canada, Europe and the UK; other regions may take a little longer. Orders over $600 travel by express courier with signature. Tables go by insured furniture freight and arrive about 2–4 weeks after they are finished.
Will I pay customs duties?
US and EU orders are delivered duties paid, so there is nothing more to pay on arrival. For other countries, import fees depend on local rules; write to us and we will help you estimate them.
What is your return policy?
You can return any order within 30 days of delivery, for any reason, worldwide. Faulty or damaged items return free; for change-of-mind returns the item must be unused in its original packaging and you cover return shipping. EU and UK customers also keep their full statutory rights, including a 14-day withdrawal right.
Can I talk to someone before I buy?
Yes. Call or message us on WhatsApp at +374 41 777 882 for a personal consultation about any piece. We are happy to send more photos, help with size and engraving, and answer any question.
Do you accept custom orders?
Yes. Tell us what you have in mind on WhatsApp (+374 41 777 882) or at contact@lionlaurel.com, and we will talk through the size, wood and engraving with you.
What materials do you use?
Mostly solid beech and walnut, carved by hand. Some boards add epoxy resin, amber stones or bronze details; each product page lists its own materials.
Is payment secure?
Yes. You pay through Shopify's secure checkout with all major cards, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
