Luxury Village Scene Walnut Backgammon Set with Ornament Checkers by Hrachya Ohanyan
The village scene with the pieces to match: a woman at her spinning wheel, another at the churn, houses and orchards in deep relief under the peaks of Ararat, and 32 checkers with a cast ornament emblem in every face. This is the 60 cm / 23.6″ luxury walnut backgammon set made by Hrachya Ohanyan, with hornbeam inlay, dice and a branded case.
This is the board for the family that wants the complete set, the collector who noticed the checkers on the other boards, and the table where the pieces get looked at as closely as the lid. The spinning wheel's spokes, the churn on its rope, the wall and the trees all stand off the ground inside a rococo scroll frame and faceted lattice; the emblems on the checkers are cast metal, bronze-toned on the dark pieces and silver-toned on the pale, seated flush in the wood.
Inside, the walnut field carries points and wheel ornaments inlaid in pale hornbeam, with the maker's stamped hinge on the bar. The back cover is a chequerboard in carved basket weave with a scroll ornament in deep relief at each end. For the anniversary that deserves the whole set, and the collector who wants nothing left to add.

Why You'll Love It
- The pieces belong to the board: every checker carries a cast ornament emblem, bronze on the dark ones and silver on the pale, so the set reads as one piece of work from lid to last checker.
- A whole day on one lid: two women at their work, a churn on its branch, trees down to the last leaf — carved deep enough to cast their own shadows.
- Make it theirs: add a name or a date at checkout to mark a birthday, a retirement or years of games together.
Good to Know Before You Buy
Are the emblems on the checkers metal? Yes. Each emblem is cast in a zinc-aluminium alloy with bronze, finished in two tones, and seated in a recess in the face of the checker; the checkers themselves are turned beech and walnut with velvet underneath. The scene on the lid is carved in deep relief from the solid walnut, the points inside are hornbeam inlay, and the surface is beeswax. Nothing is printed.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free to the US, Canada and Europe, always tracked; other countries pay a flat $100 (Brazil, Chile and New Zealand $200). Every set is covered by our 30-day returns policy.
How do I look after it? Keep it out of direct sunlight and away from radiators. Wipe with a dry, soft cloth and store it closed in its carrying case.
