Walnut-brown beech with the flame of the grain running across a plain lid, and the carving kept for the inside. This is the 60 cm / 23.6″ wooden backgammon set made by Hrachya Ohanyan, classic outline. Made by hand in beech, with 32 wooden checkers, dice and a carrying bag.

This is the board for the player who wants dark wood and no picture — the plain beech board in the walnut-brown finish, priced for the kitchen table. The lid is one face of beech, stained deep and varnished, so the grain does the decorating: broad flame figure across the cover, darker towards the rim. Inside, the pale points stand sharp against the dark field, each tipped with a carved drop, a petal wheel is cut into each half, and a thin leaf scroll runs along each end rail.

The hinge is brass, the clasps are cast, and there is nothing on the cover to catch a sleeve. For the office break room, the boat, the second home, and the player who would rather the board looked like furniture than a trophy.
