Discover a luxury wooden backgammon set with two wolves carved in high relief on the lid. They stand side by side on rocky ground beneath a tree, every hair of the coat cut by hand, inside an oval framed by scalloped panels and a carved lattice border. Open the board and the playing field is inlaid in light wood, with two carved ornaments at the centre and engraved bronze hinges that carry the master's name.
This handmade backgammon set comes from the workshop of master Hrachya Ohanyan. It is a full-size board for nardi, the game as it is played in Armenia. Handmade in Armenia.

The Story on the Lid

About the Artist
Hrachya Ohanyan is an Armenian master woodcarver who began his fine wood craft in 1985 and opened the Hrachya Ohanyan workshop in 2010. The animal boards are where his relief carving goes deepest, and the wolves are among the most asked-for pieces in the Hrachya Ohanyan backgammon collection.
