Luxury Epoxy Backgammon Set - Branch Slices in Turquoise Resin, Two-Sided, by Hrachya Ohanyan
Between the wood discs on this luxury epoxy backgammon set the resin is the colour of shallow sea water — a soft turquoise that turns the slices into stepping stones. 23.6″ / 60 cm, two-sided, on a one-piece beech base by master Hrachya Ohanyan; checkers, billiard-ball dice and case included.
Cherry, walnut and apricot branches sawn across the grain — some the size of a coin, some of a saucer, bark rings on most — cover both outer faces of the board, and a milky turquoise epoxy is poured between them and polished flush, so the lid reads as pebbles under clear water. Inside, the mood changes: the points are poured in a deep green pearl with scrolled tips, the wheel ornament at the heart of each half is ringed in the same green, and an ornate bronze hinge joins the bar over a pale natural field. Because both covers carry the mosaic, it has no wrong side on the shelf. The lighter, cooler twin of our blue branch-slice board — for the seaside house, the green room, and the buyer who found the blue a shade too loud. Also known as nardi (нарды), nardy, tavla or shesh besh.

Why You'll Love It
- Pebbles under water: the turquoise is milky rather than clear, so the slices sit in it like stones in a stream — softer than the blue, warmer than the wood alone.
- Nothing repeats: every board takes a few hundred real slices from whatever the orchards sent that month, laid one by one in the Hrachya Ohanyan workshop.
- Make it theirs: add a name or a date at checkout and it becomes a personalized backgammon set.
Good to Know Before You Buy
Are the branch slices real? They are — sawn from real branches, dried, set into the lid and surrounded with poured epoxy that is cured, sanded level and varnished with the rest of the board. Nothing is printed, and no two boards carry the same slices, so yours will differ from the photographs in the way a real thing should.
What about shipping and returns? Shipping is free to the US, Canada and Europe, always tracked; other countries pay a flat $100 (Brazil, Chile and New Zealand $200). Every set is covered by our 30-day returns.
How do I look after it? Keep it out of direct sun and away from radiators, wipe with a dry soft cloth, and store it closed in the case.
Green Instead of Blue
The blue version came first, and it sold to people who wanted a splash. The turquoise was made for the others — the ones who wrote to ask for something that would sit quietly beside old furniture. Milky resin, less pigment, the same slices: the wood does the talking and the green only fills the silences between the rings.
