You have 30 days from delivery to return anything, for any reason, from anywhere in the world. If a piece arrives damaged or faulty, send us photos — we'll replace it or refund you in full, and in most cases you won't need to ship anything back. Engraved pieces are the only exception.

Changed your mind — 30 days, worldwide

A board is a considered purchase, and sometimes it doesn't feel right in the room you bought it for. That's fine.

You have 30 days from the day your order arrives to return it for any reason, from anywhere in the world. No justification needed, and no restocking fee.

We ask only that the piece comes back in resalable condition — you're welcome to unpack it and look at it properly, just as you would in a shop, but it shouldn't have been played on, marked, or damaged — and, where possible, in its original protective packaging.

Return shipping is at your own cost. International return shipping to Armenia isn't cheap, so please email us before you send anything: we'll help you find the most economical tracked option and make sure the parcel is declared correctly at customs, which protects your refund.

Once it reaches us and we've checked it over, we refund the full price you paid to your original payment method.

Arrived damaged, faulty, or not what you ordered

Every piece is inspected before it ships and every shipment is insured. If something still goes wrong:

Email contact@lionlaurel.com within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a few clear photos.

We'll reply within 1–2 business days and arrange a replacement or a full refund — your choice. In most cases you won't need to send anything back. If you do, we cover the return shipping.

Cancelling before it ships

Changed your mind before your order leaves the workshop? Email us and we'll cancel it and refund you in full, no questions asked. This matters especially for made-to-order pieces, which take 1–2 weeks to carve.

Made to order is not the same as personalised

Some of our pieces are carved after you order them. They can still be returned. A made-to-order board from our catalogue is covered by the full 30-day policy above, exactly like an in-stock piece.

Only engraved and custom-commissioned pieces are excluded — because they're made to your personal specification and can't be offered to anyone else.

What can't be returned

Engraved pieces — anything carrying a personalised inscription.
Custom commissions — pieces designed to your own specification.
Gift cards.

Unless they arrive damaged or faulty. If an engraved piece arrives with a fault, every protection on this page still applies in full.

Before you add an engraving, we tell you clearly on the product page that doing so removes the right to return the piece.

European Union & United Kingdom — your statutory rights

The 30-day policy above is a commercial promise we make voluntarily. It sits on top of your legal rights — it does not replace them. Wherever the law gives you more than we do, the law applies.

Right of withdrawal — 14 days

If you are a consumer in the European Union, the EEA, or the United Kingdom, you have the legal right to withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving any reason. You then have a further 14 days to send the goods back.

You may unpack and inspect the piece as you would in a shop. We may only reduce your refund if you have handled it beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics, and functioning.

We refund you within 14 days of being told that you are withdrawing, including the standard delivery cost we charged you — which is zero, as our shipping is free. We may wait until the goods have reached us, or until you provide proof that you have sent them.

You bear the direct cost of returning the goods.

This right does not apply to engraved or custom-commissioned pieces, which are made to your specification.

Legal guarantee of conformity — at least 2 years

Separately from the right of withdrawal: if a piece turns out to be faulty or not as described, you have at least two years of statutory protection under EU law, and longer under the UK Consumer Rights Act. Email us with photos and we will repair, replace, or refund.

Our workmanship

We stand behind how our pieces are made. Every board is carved, joined, and finished by hand, then inspected before it ships — these are objects built to be used for decades and handed on, not replaced.

If a piece ever develops a fault in our workmanship — a joint that opens, a hinge that fails, a finish that lifts — email us with photos. We'll assess it and put it right. This commitment is in addition to your statutory rights and does not limit them in any way.

Wood is a living material. Small movements in grain and subtle changes in colour over the years are natural, and are part of the character of a handmade piece rather than a fault.

Returning a parcel to Armenia — please read first

Two things protect your refund:

1. Email us before you send anything. We'll give you the return address, tell you exactly what to write on the customs declaration, and help you choose a tracked service. Parcels declared incorrectly can be held at the border or charged import duty, which delays your refund.

2. Use a tracked service and keep the receipt. Until the parcel reaches us, that receipt is your proof.

Import VAT and duties on returns

United States: we ship duty-paid, so the price you paid is the price we refund. There is nothing for you to reclaim.

European Union and elsewhere: if you paid import VAT or duty to the courier on delivery and then return the piece, that money is usually reclaimable from your own customs authority — it isn't something we collect, so it isn't something we can refund. Email us and we'll send you the shipping and customs paperwork you need to make the claim.

Refunds

Once we've received and inspected your return — or approved a photo-based claim — we'll email you the outcome.

Approved refunds go back to your original payment method within 14 days, usually sooner. Your bank or card provider may take a few extra days to post it. If more than 15 business days have passed since we approved your refund and you still haven't seen it, email us and we'll chase it for you.
